about cafe ume (u mê)

U Mê is a Vietnamese word that means falling deep for something, or someone. 

Cafe Ume was born with one goal, and one goal only, that is to bring back that first time you fall in love with coffee, hence our slogan  - Love of First Sip. 

During the beginning of 2022, a major life event sent Quan, our founder, to Vietnam. He spent a lot of time there to be around his family, and decided to also utilize that time to pursue his love for coffee. 

Quan traveled to many coffee farms across Vietnam, but spent most his time in the Central Highland parts, that are famous for their coffee. Found the beans he loves in Gia Lai, Quan imported those beans back to Portland, OR, where he personally roasts and grinds the beans to perfection. 

Quan then spent a lot of time, and after close to a thousand tries, he developed the perfect recipe for his beans. The coffee comes out rich, aromatic, yet pleasuring and without any of the dramatic after taste.
